The base plate aligns the balde to the very edge of the core material. Simply push the tool forward to trim off the veneer at the edge.
This tool features a Europen Beech handle and heavy gauge base. There is .625 inches of grind distance on the blade. A beautiful companion tool to the Ulmia 744.
